Hello,

we have great news to tell you! Mia's nursery school in Sanyang had been re-opened last year and we have got lots of new photos from Ida Mia Clinckx :-)

As you know, Ida Clinckx had made a little farm out of it in the meantime and therefore opened up that new 3-class Miaschool in Mahmuda (a neighbour village) instead. (Read about this other Miaschool here.) But since it had been too far away to walk for the small kids from Sanyang she re-considered her decision and re-opened the school on her private ground for only one class just one year later. It was of course lots of renovation work to do but it was well worth it and the kids from Sanyang and their parents are quite happy again :-)

With the kind help of friends from Mahmuda the facade, indoor walls, doors and windows got new paint...

...all the benches and tables got painted

new posters for the class room walls were created...

and so everything looks like new again :-)

The happy children in the new class room...

...are listening to the new teacher Modou Sonko

... and also to Ida Clinckx as a teacher...

Well, just to mention: the school building got renovated after the rain season, of course, because in summer usually everything is overflooded in the Gambia. So the school yard always looks like this for several weeks in July and August:

but afterwards it looks very green in the school garden...

and all kind of huge exotic fruits can be harvested...

Ida Clinckx made also many more new school uniforms last year (all in all 120 pieces, including the ones for the school in Mahmuda, which look the same, except for the different school labels on them).

Big thanks to her niece Karina Clinckx who had sponsered a huge amount of brandnew yellow belly bags...

which got retailed to all the children and which they are wearing quite proudly now...

The children took also part on the annual sports day...

...while the teachers prefered to sit in the shadow ;-)

There are about 30 children in the new old Miaschool now...

Ida Clinkx brings the children home...

There are many more new photos to watch in the photo section here :-)
